As an incoming freshman, you may qualify for one or more
Kent State University scholarships. Several are listed below. To apply for one of these and for more complete scholarship information, please contact the Financial Aid office.
Please note that most of these scholarships have January or February as their deadline for the upcoming fall semester.
PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIPS
The University sometimes waives out-of-state charges
for outstanding students. That's more than $3,000 a
year. The application is in Kent's basic Financial Aid
package. There is a similar program called the President's
Grant for children of Kent alumni.
FOUNDERS SCHOLARS PROGRAM
These scholarships are all a part of the Founders Scholars
Program. The Founders
Scholars Program application is in the Kent State University
Admissions Office Viewbook,
which is published by the Kent State University Admissions
Office and is on the Student
Financial Aid Web site (http://www.sfa.kent.edu).
ALUMNI
MINORITY SCHOLARSHIPS

A special nonrenewable scholarship of up to $500 is
offered to incoming minority freshmen.
OTHER KENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Students with good grades and strong extracurricular
activities who might not be eligible for Honors scholarships
are urged to apply for the University Academic Scholarship
and the Trustee Scholarship. Students with Honors scholarships
certainly may apply, although those with large Honors
scholarships usually don't get the University Academic
Scholarship. To apply, contact the University Office
of Admissions.
NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund publishes two guides to
journalism schools and national scholarships. The
Journalism Career and Scholarship Guide costs $3.
The Journalism Career Guide for Minorities
is free. You can get them by writing to: Dow Jones Newspaper
Fund, PO Box 300, Princeton, NJ 08543-0300. Make your
check out to the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund. The fund's
Web site is www.dowjones.com/newsfund. |
