Transfer Students

If you are transferring credits from another college or university and want to become a JMC major, your credits will be evaluated first by the Kent State University Office of Admissions and then by the JMC undergraduate coordinator. You will enter Kent as a pre-journalism major. To become a JMC major, you need to complete a set of requirements.

Requirements to Become a JMC Major
Complete 15 credit hours at Kent State University
Achieve a 2.75 or better overall GPA (grades don't transfer, just credit hours, so you start fresh at Kent)
Complete two freshman English classes with a combined "B" average (if completed at your previous school, you must still complete one of two specific English classes at Kent with a "B" or better)
Complete Introduction to Mass Communication with a "C" or better (if not completed at your previous school)

For more information contact Professor Greg Blase, the Kent JMC undergraduate coordinator, via e-mail gblase@kent.edu or through the School's main office at (330) 672-2572.
