JMC Required Computer Purchase

Incoming freshman in the fall are required to purchase a laptop computer prior to the beginning of the following spring semester. JMC at Kent State strongly recommends that you purchase a Macintosh laptop computer that meets or exceeds the standards listed below.

Computers can be purchased at academic prices through the Apple Authorized Campus Store — it is recommended that parents/students take advantage of Apple’s back-to-school specials. These will be available prior to the start of Fall semester 2012. For more information regarding back-to-school specials, visit the Apple Authorized Campus Store online or visit the university bookstore inside the student center.

It is also strongly recommended that students purchase the upgraded three-year AppleCare Computer warranty. Portable computers are subjected to much more wear and tear than desktop computers. The upgraded warranty also includes three full years of 24/7 telephone technical support.

*Apple will release newer versions of the MacBook Pro over time. Students need only obtain a computer that meets or exceeds the specifications listed above.
