Student media won national honors in the Mark of Excellence competition sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists. Winning first place national awards were Chris Sharron in the Editorial Cartooning category and the Daily Kent Stater Editorial Board in the Editorial Writing category. Placing as National Finalists in the competition were Tom Gallick, of the Stater, in Sports Column Writing and the staff of KentWired.com in the Online News Reporting category.
