Warzinski becomes new head of Friends of JMC@KSU

There's a changing of the guard in the Kent JMC alumni organization.

	On July 1, JMC Instructor Marianne Warzinski becomes the new chair of Friends of JMC@KSU. Warzinski assumes the lead when Lori Cantor, senior business manager for the Office of Student Media and current Friends of JMC@KSU chair, steps down.

“After two and a half years of being chair of Friends of JMC, I feel it’s time for some “new blood,’” Cantor said. “Marianne is committed to the council, and I know she’ll be committed to forward momentum and support for the School of JMC.”

Cantor will continue to serve on the council after she leaves office.

“I couldn’t imagine not being part of the council,” Cantor said. “The satisfaction from helping alumni and the School of JMC is tremendous, and I look forward to my continued involvement with the council.”

Warzinski looks forward to her new role.

“Getting to meet alumni and reconnecting with former KSU classmates is going to be great,” Warzinski said. “I’m also excited about trying to increase membership and continuing the council’s support of the School of JMC.”

During the 2002-2003 academic year, Warzinski served as part-time media specialist for the Office of Student Media, and was a JMC adjunct professor in the electronic media sequence.

She became a full-time, non-tenure track JMC professor in 2003-2004, and began serving as adviser to Kent State’s student-run radio station, WKSR.

She’ll maintain her roles as WKSR adviser and JMC professor while serving her one-year term as Friends of JMC @ KSU chair, and has already started planning.

“Our main focus now will be working on plans for the 2004 homecoming events,” she said. “During and after homecoming, we’ll also be working on increasing council awareness and membership.”

Becoming a member of Friends of JMC @KSU is a good way to stay in touch and up-to-date on events, programs, accomplishments and achievements of the Kent JMC faculty, staff, students and fellow alumni.
