| Three
new full time tenure-track faculty members join Kent JMC this
year, bringing with them the solid professional backgrounds
the school is known for.
Here's
a brief run-down on each one.
Michele
Ewing,
assistant professor, public relations
Michele
has spent the past 12 years as a strategic communications
counselor with Marcus Thomas (formerly Ira Thomas Associates)
in Cleveland. She
 |
has
been vice president of the public relations division
since July 2000. Before that, she worked as director
of public relations, account supervisor, senior account
executive, and account executive.
Her
clients have included ALLTEL Communications, First Western
Bank, Homer Laughlin China Co., HomeTown Health
|
Network,
Ohio Health Choice, Robinson Memorial Hospital, Sky Financial
Group, WCI Steel, and Youngstown State University.
Prior
to joining Thomas, Michele was director of public relations
for Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital and audio-visual supervisor
at Saint Thomas Medical Center in Akron.
She
is an accredited member of PRSA and a member of PRSA Counselors
Academy.
Michele
holds a B.A. in telecommunications from Youngstown State University
and an M.A. in journalism from Kent State.
Bill
Barre,
assistant professor, advertising
Bill
brings with him 30 years experience in a wide variety of accounts
in multiple industries. He has worked on campaigns for Hallmark,
Kraft, Gillette, Stokely-Van Camp, Gatorade, Quaker Oats,
Kellogg,
|
M&M
MARS, McDonald's, Citibank, MasterCard, Pfizer, Sears Roebuck,
Ford Motor Co., and others.
Besides
his work in creative, he also has experience in sales promotion,
direct-response, sports and event marketing, and e-commerce.
Most
recently, Bill was creative director and partner at LNC in
Chicago. Prior to that he worked as creative director at BVK/McDonald-Chicago,
at Robert Brandt & Assoc., and at DraftWorldwide. He also
has worked at Foote, Cone & Belding, Campbell-Ewald, and
J. Walter Thompson.
Bill
holds a B.S. in marketing from Bradley University and an M.S.
in advertising from the University of Illinois.
Karl
Idsvoog, assistant professor, broadcast news
Karl
has an extensive background in broadcast journalism. President
and owner of 1st Amendment Investigations in Cincinnati, Karl
will join us for the start of Spring Semester 2004.
A
Nieman Fellow at Harvard, Karl has operated 1st Amendment
Investigations since 1998. His clients have included the U.S.
State Department, where he went on media training trips to
post-Soviet republics and to Damascus where he worked with
National Syrian Television.
Other
clients have included the International Center for Journalists,
Baker & Hostetler, and American Public University.
Prior
to starting his own company, Karl worked in New York, Washington
DC, Cincinnati and Salt Lake City as an investigative producer
and reporter, bureau chief, executive producer and special
projects director.
He
holds bachelor and master's degrees in journalism and mass
communication from the University of Wisconsin.
