Northeast Ohio newspapers look for diversity
"No institution is 'diverse enough,' primarily because diversity is not a number. It is more a way of life, the way employees treat each other and the way a company deals with its employees," Thomas Greer, senior vice-president of The Plain Dealer, said.
"Diversity is making sure the environment is conducive for everyone to thrive and be as good as they can be regardless of what their role happens to be," Greer said.
The two largest newspapers in northeast Ohio, The Plain Dealer and the Akron Beacon Journal, are both trying to establish more diversity in their newsrooms, but it's not always easy. [more]

Canal Park Offers More Than Just Baseball
For Katherine Bush, 7, watching the Akron Aeros is more than just a day at Canal Park. So when she watched her ticket float away in the Cuyahoga River, on July 26 she couldn’t help but be upset.
“The ticket was in my hand; then it just flew away,” Katherine said.
Family and friends attempted to comfort her, but their efforts failed. [more]
